Most of us need to reduce the amount of clutter in our minds, our homes, our lives and careers.

Now, how does Clutter relate to my blog topic of Creativity? Clutter does affect our ability to creative, in both a positive and negative way. There are times, at my most creative highs, that I am surrounded by clutter, as the creative process unfolds. This is exciting! I am creative! This is the positive side of temporary clutter and my creative process. Papers are flying, paint is splashing on the floors and walls (yes, this is true), journals are opening and closing, and I am jumping from computer, to paint, to writing and more.

Creative inspiration is coming through me so fast, through so many different mediums, that I don’t want to miss a single moment of documenting in some form, the creative expression that is screaming to come out and take shape.

However, before each creative project, I start once again, with a perfectly clean and tidy slate, a perfectly uncluttered design studio, office or art studio (I have all three) in order to free my mind, and begin each project with clean, fresh and open energy. In order to begin the creative process for any project, a blank canvas is needed, for true creativity to be expressed.

What do I mean by “true creativity”?

In my opinion, creativity cannot be forced, and it comes through us, and is inside us, but more importantly, comes from a place outside of us, if we will allow it to.

Creativity is about living in the unknown, expecting the unexpected, and not controlling outcomes. This is when we find the hidden gems.

So, de-clutter your life, open your mind, your life and your world to Get The Creative NUDGE and YOUR OWN Creative Process, that truly is waiting to unfold, once you give it the space to do so.
